12 hrs of Disco - race report

We had a great time in Salmon, Idaho this past weekend! Thank you, Max, for putting on such a chill but professional race! I highly recommend this race to you for next year. The course was very rolling and fast ~ a great way to get in those early season miles! The weather in Salmon this time of year is  warm and the view of the white capped Bitterroot Mountains is breath taking! I was especially excited to get out of town and race since our new kits showed up on Friday ~ just in time for the voyage! (it's the green one)

Fellow Mud Honey and friend, Laura, has a 36 foot RV (she has 5 kids!) so we loaded up the rig and headed North! We had a great pre-race dinner and "social" at The Elk's Club in Salmon and headed up to Discovery Hill (aka Disco) to set up "Camp". The race started right at 7am with rifle-men prompting the LeMans start. And ... we were off! It is a 12 hour race and team Mud Honey had a team in the duo category (Karoline and Muffy got 5th overall), 4 person category (Trini, Gabby, Laura and Mia got 4th!) and solo (India Wysong). Everyone stayed on task and had a great time! However, I had to cut my solo effort short because of this.

Needless to say, I was very sad! Argh. There are some of those races that hurt so badly you sorta wish a "game breaker" like this would happen!!! This was not one of those races. Boo! Oh well, now I had time to support my friends, drink the free Ninkasi Beer (yum) and get a real feel for the event from a racers/support/spectator perspective. Already looking forward to next year! www.ridesalmon.com

  1. I agree with India! Great race! Wasn't too hard. Wasn't too hot or cols. Lots of food- pasta feed, burgers and dogs. Great prizes. Relaxed! A few cow pies and cow skids- but they didn't stink! Next year- the Mud Ho's take Salmon by storm!
