Fellow Mud Honey and friend, Laura, has a 36 foot RV (she has 5 kids!) so we loaded up the rig and headed North! We had a great pre-race dinner and "social" at The Elk's Club in Salmon and headed up to Discovery Hill (aka Disco) to set up "Camp". The race started right at 7am with rifle-men prompting the LeMans start. And ... we were off! It is a 12 hour race and team Mud Honey had a team in the duo category (Karoline and Muffy got 5th overall), 4 person category (Trini, Gabby, Laura and Mia got 4th!) and solo (India Wysong). Everyone stayed on task and had a great time! However, I had to cut my solo effort short because of this.
Needless to say, I was very sad! Argh. There are some of those races that hurt so badly you sorta wish a "game breaker" like this would happen!!! This was not one of those races. Boo! Oh well, now I had time to support my friends, drink the free Ninkasi Beer (yum) and get a real feel for the event from a racers/support/spectator perspective. Already looking forward to next year! www.ridesalmon.com
I agree with India! Great race! Wasn't too hard. Wasn't too hot or cols. Lots of food- pasta feed, burgers and dogs. Great prizes. Relaxed! A few cow pies and cow skids- but they didn't stink! Next year- the Mud Ho's take Salmon by storm!
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming to Salmon, Mudhoneyers! Great job!
